14th Birthday

So Savannah turned 14 clear back in June. But with all the activities and camps going on we couldn't find a free weekend until yesterday. She invited a few of her good friends for a mall scavenger hunt and a sleepover. Jasmeet and Haylie won the scavenger hunt and that was even after having to go back and get a duck face picture in front of the Aeropostale store sign. Yummy cake, ice cream and pizza with the 1D theme of course. Came back home and the girls walked over to the pool. Said they finally went to bed at 2am. Oh to be young again! Happy 14th Savannah!

Buck Night at the Royals

Mike and I love the Royals. This was one of the Buck Nights where the pepsi, hot dogs, and peanuts are only $1. Good thing because the tickets aren't cheap!

Goin' to Arkansas.

In June we went to one of our favorite little tourist towns Eureka Springs, AR. Mike was finishing up his PADI certification and doing the open water part. Beaver Lake is know to be clear for snorkeling and scuba diving. They even have stuff buried in the lake for divers to go find. We stayed in town at a quaint little hotel. Great pool for the girls to swim in after our drive. While Mike was busy at the lake for two days the girls and I went shopping, got ice cream, and went swimming. I ended up going into a great little bookstore for something to read. I hate it when I forget my library book - but I have no interest in getting anything on an iPad or Kindle. Got to have paper man.

CCE 5th Grade Graduation!!!

What an awesome evening! Haylie's graduation from 5th grade at Cedar Creek Elementary. Everyone headed to MTMS in the fall. Thought it was pretty neat that they had all the kids stand up who had been attending Cedar Creek all 6 years since Kindergarten. Can't believe we've been in KS that long!

CCE Awards Ceremony

This was Haylie's last awards ceremony in elementary school. She got a lot of pins to add to her lanyard from all the activities she was involved in. Once we took it home and organized them all it filled both sides. What a fun thing to put in her memory box.

Garmin Day at Worlds of Fun

Another advantage of my job. Garmin reserved the entire Worlds of Fun Amusement Park just for employees. It was SO fun. We walked onto all the rides (several times). Typical lunch buffet that we have every time we go. With about 3000 employees in KC I only saw one person I knew from the office.

CCE Talent Show

May also included the annual CCE Talent Show. Haylie was in a group of 5th graders doing a routine to We Go Together. This was their last hurrah before going on to middle school.

MT Dance Team Banquet

At the end of every year dance team has a banquet for members. Good food, great friends, awards. We got a picture of the whole group which includes 7th and 8th graders. Six 8th graders moving on to high school with their coach Mrs Crocker.

CCE Choir at Kansas State Capitol

Haylie and her school choir were asked to perform at the state capitol in Topeka. I took a VERY extended lunch to drive out there to have lunch with her and hear her sing. They have been doing a reno on the building since we moved out here 10 years ago, but look like they are almost done. It was a fun lunch date!

Garmin Take Your Child to Work Day

Garmin participates in the national take your child to work day. Since Savannah will be in high school this coming fall with several AP classes I wasn't going to take her out for this. So I took her this year and will take Haylie next year. She had a blast sitting at my desk doing my job for a couple of hours. We then went to lunch in our cafeteria which has awesome food. We actually stole the sous chef from Mike's hospital. The kids then got a tour of our facility. They had a give away and Savannah won a bag of Starbursts and a $10 gift card to WalMart. She was pretty happy.

Olathe North Eaglettes Spring Show

Every year Olathe North High School invites several schools and private dance studios to come perform in their spring show. MT did their lyrical routine which is not my favorite but they did a great job. A favorite of many was the Eaglette Men do their routine.

Easter Weekend in Branson

We decided to take an impromtu trip down to Branson over Easter weekend. It was the perfect getaway. There weren't any crowds so we walked onto all the rides. Haylie's favorite part was the Titanic Museum. It was pretty spectacular. Only thing that went wrong was Savannah sprained her ankle in dance practice the day before so we had push her around in a wheelchair.

Oz, The Great and Powerful

I was so excited to see this movie that we just had to go see it on the Extreme Screen at Union Station in 3D. Loved how they did the green lights both inside and out.

Happy 11th Birthday Haylie!

First Time Skiing

No mountains here in Kansas, but that doesn't mean we still can't ski! Took the girls up for their first ski lesson at Snow Creek Ski Resort in Weston, MO. It started out cloudy and cold. Haylie thought it was pretty fun getting fitted for boots.

Yeah, they looked pretty silly learning the basics with their class.

Riding up the ski lift and practicing for the rest of the day. Girls kept telling Mike he used his poles too much. Girls didn't use poles the entire day. We ate lunch in the lodge and it ended up a beautiful sunny day to ski. I planted my butt in the lodge in front of the fire the entire time.  :-)

AAKC night at the Missouri Mavericks

Mike's work treated us to a suite at the Independence Center to watch the Missouri Mavericks January 2013. AYCE hot dogs, nachos, and drinks. Totally dig the perks of both our employers!

Garmin International Christmas Party

My new job at Garmin International totally rocks! Had an awesome Christmas party at the OP Convention Center. Loads of food and free drinks, several different bands, a dessert bar, give-aways, and I won a $50 gift card to The Cheesecake Factory! This ice sculpture was da bomb.
